Burberry Brit has opened it`s first store in Europe. The 250 square metre store opened on Corso Venezia 9, Milan on november 27th. The opening-hours are monday to sunday 10.30AM - 7.30PM.
The Store reflects a new store design concept developed by Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey. British materials and themes are used throughout the store in a contemporary and innovative way with flat screen LED video walls showcasing Burberry digital content.
The Burberry Brit collection is centred around relaxed outerwear, the Burberry check and denim.
The new Milan store carries Burberry Brit, Burberry Sport and Burberry Accessories (Menswear, Womenswear, Non Apparel, Fragrances, Watches and Eyewear).
There are currently five other Burberry stores in Italy – Milan, Rome, Florence, Bologna and Venice. Burberry has two existing Burberry Brit stores in New York.
I love how the retro-inspired clothes fit the modernity of Shanghai perfectly. I also love the military elements and the classic, low-key lady-like make-up!
I`m not feeling the shoes (flat mules!?! Not only fugly but also unsafe to walk in!) but I`m very much feeling the short dresses, the ruffles, layers, the black and white, the see-through blouses, the bows and Valentino`s usual "overkill of feminity, tenderness & elegance". YAY for that!
I arrived at H&M (Königsallee 76, Düsseldorf, Germany) at 7.30 a.m. (it usually opens at 10 a.m. but today it was scheduled to open at 8.00). There already was a crowd waiting in front of the store.
I received a bracelet, that marked my shopping time for 9.20 - 9.35.
I intended to buy the black ruffled lace skirt and the fur coat but when I got in at 9.20 I had to learn that the fur coat wasn`t available :(
Everything in my size (36 / S) was sold out already and only one pair of shoes in my size was left.
The ruffled lace skirt was very unflattering on me (it made my hips look two sizes larger than they are), the shoes looked quite tacky (so did the bags...) and the sole was super slippery, so they were not an option.
So I chose the black ruffled dress for 149 Euro.
I`m content.
Even though the whole experience didn`t meet the expertations that were built up by all the hype during the last weeks.
How was your shopping experience? What did you buy?
Self-confidence, a secure sense of style, sex appeal and modernity - these are the underlying themes for womenswear. With the new looks for the spring/summer 2011 season, the JOOP! woman is able to live out and display all the facets of her style and femininity in full. The stylistic spectrum ranges from decidedly feminine aspects to urban yet relaxed looks topped off by lascivious/dreamy elements. The focus is on the mutual attraction of opposites. The specifically contrary links between feminine details and casual outfits create a particular appeal and deliberately seek to convey a sense of tension.
A light summertime look, a natural appeal and bold contrasts are the main theme here. The juxtaposition of femininity and precise tailoring finds its expression in the interplay of sharp crisp
materials and soft fine images. Summer wool, cotton/elasthan gabadine and linen structures are contrasted with cotton piqués, shimmering taffeta, fine silk batistes and pleated silk crêpes.
Multi-layered and perfectly harmonised colours highlight the individual message of the collection. The first theme uses light neutrals and deep hues of grey with a touch of purple as the base colours.
In the second group, tobacco brown and a dark ocean blue conjure up a deep and mysterious aura. This base is supplemented with elegant summer neutrals such as Cabana and Champagna. They are combined with strong luminescent blue and green hues as highlights.
The reflecting light of a summer afternoon inspires the range of colours in the final delivery. Light sandy shadings are supplemented with delicate powdery pastels, joined by brown nut tones and cool pistachio green. Oceano remains relevant as a base colour and a variation of classic black.

I love the nude & powder colours and the retro-modernity of the elegant cuts.
What are your favourite looks & accessories from Joop! S/S 11?
The collection is characterised by masculine sex appeal, a strong sense of style, clear lines, and perfect fits. To create this message, skilfully fitted sports jackets and suits with slim silhouettes, exhibiting elegant cuts, wide pocket flaps, elevated waistline and pockets, take centre stage. Sartorial details and features emphasise the premium quality of the deconstructed jacket and suit types. In the area of evening wear, dinner jackets with white mirror silk lapels radiate glamour and confident extravagance. Slim silhouettes and carefully worked out details inspired by authentic uniforms characterise the jacket and coat variations.
The used materials range from summery, light materials over classic wool to compact, masculine trench coat weaves and double faced qualities. Traditional cotton blends and cotton weaves displaying a wool mélange look are found side by side, showing a modern combination of the different aspects of the materials. High-quality performance and shape-memory fabrics stand in contrast to markedly natural fabric qualities and finishes.
A dark, masculine base colour tonality, made up of midnight blue, deep brown and anthracite, weaves its way through the entire collection. Camel, sand, shades of mineral grey as well as graphic white form an additional signature feature. In the rhythm of the collection, this neutral basis gradually develops into a new, summery harmony, with modern, summery accents such as dynamic red, fir green, legion blue, and frosty berry shades.
