Here is special video version of the Roberto Cavalli Men's Spring / Summer 2012 runway show, held on June 18 against the stunning backdrop of Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan.
The introduction with Jon Kortajarena gives an enhanced insight into the intimacy of the male ritual of dressing, before an encounter, in which the tailored suit is a means of bestowing full of confidence and self-awareness.
Through images and sounds the director brings this ritual to life for the viewer’s experience. The sound of his skin on the soft leather loafers, the rustle of his jacket over his shirt, a belt being stretched at his waist: images that represent the substance and essence of the garments.
Each runway look is captured through a sequence of photographic moments, completing the vision of the total look of details such as embroidery, the working of the leather, the finishing of the fabrics. The model and his outfit are analyzed, investigated, studied and appreciated through a cinematic vision.
Seriously, this is the coolest runway video EVER. It captures the mood of the show and the collection perfectly! Sexy, cool, sophisticated & confident. LOVE IT!

For summer 2012, Nicole Farhi pays tribute to the forthcoming Olympic Games introducing elements of retro sports gear, delivering a versatile and urban collection.

Drawing inspiration from the historic 1908 London Games and the 1981 iconic film 'Chariots of Fire', the collection focuses on traditionally English sporting disciplines from rowing and fencing to athletics and horse riding.

Innovation, technology, performance and comfort, are applied to traditional menswear attire. Sporting elements are worked in - ergonomic tailoring flows throughout the collection, garments are seamsealed, not always stitched and traditional fabrics are treated with modern techniques.

Elements such as straps, tape and binding feature throughout and garments are treated with a 'chalk' finish, giving texture and tone.

Heightened capabilitiy is given to traditional fabrics and garments - smooth Lycra jersey is bonded with linen and canvas.

The parka`s construction is revised - heavy canvas outer contrasts with a lightweight double layer inner.

Knitwear takes new form. The classic 'cricket' jumper is reworked fusing cable knit cotton with technical interlining.

The colour palette is neutral with cool grey, chalk and optic white fading into ivory, chino and khaki, punctuated with lime. Air force blue runs into navy.

It felt like being by the sea with the sand-coloured runway, white seats and blue background.
The runway had a center surrounded by two circles, which made watching slightly confusing, especially when you sat in the middle, outer circle, like I did.
